Caribbean or West Indies is a group of islands located in the Caribbean Sea. These islands stretching southward from the bottom of Florida to the northwest of Venezuela in South America. Consist of at least 7000 islands, small islands, reefs, and the caye. The islands are grouped into twenty-five territories including sovereign states, overseas departments, and other administrative areas.
The name "West Indian" comes from the idea that Christopher Columbus thought he had landed in India when he actually reached America. The Caribbean consists of the Great Antilles and Lesser Antilles and parts of North America.
At one time there was short-states called the West Indian Federation which consists of the islands in the Caribbean which inhabitants speak English.
